12 O’clock? More like Lunch O’clock…

It’s nearly midday. To many people, that can mark many things. It can signify your next appointment, the fact you’re half way through your day, maybe you’re meeting someone for a coffee? Whatever it may be for you guys, all that goes through my head is… you got it, lunchtime.

I’m hoping that I’m not the only one who thinks about their next meal as they’re eating breakfast or lunch… Even when I’m eating dinner I’m thinking about breakfast the next day! Especially if you’re having a slow day, all that rules my thoughts is what I can plan for the day… It’s pretty enjoyable, I must say.

This morning I began the day with porridge, honey and raisins. I’ve been using almond milk this week- having not used it or spoken to anyone who has, I wasn’t sure how it would taste! My opinion is it’s a little… overrated. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a different flavour and it’s a bit thicker, but all in all I probably wouldn’t notice the difference if someone gave it to me without my knowledge! But it’s less calories, so I wouldn’t say no! But boy it is a tad pricey at £2.79 for 500ml… I’ll probably stick to the skimmed…

I’ve snacked on a clementine since then, and now I’m thinking about what I can rustle up for lunch! I’m a bit short on supplies lately, so I’m trying to work out what fantastic concoction I can create with what’s available. I’ve got one egg (perhaps a boiled one…), some chicken, or even some soup! Though I don’t think any of those things will go together… I’m popping to the supermarket to grab some apples before lunch, so fingers crossed I might be able to pick up some ham or yoghurt and I’ll have some fabulous lunch in no time!

If you’ve got any advice on some healthy lunch ideas, feel free to give me some tips! Enjoy your midday snack! ❤

Much love x

Hump Day Diary

It’s Wednesday, it’s mid-week, and we get through it knowing we’ll be one day closer to the weekend. Wednesday’s are one of my favourite days for this reason in particular, you’ve got the first two days over with, and you can start planning things for the weekend! (Unless you’re like me and work in retail..)

As mentioned in my previous post, I’ve been feeling a bit low on energy today. So unfortunately I took the decision to skip the run. However by this evening I did feel a bit better, so I decided to do an ab workout! It made me feel better about my lack of physical activity all day- even if I did wait until 7pm to do it..

My revision was extremely unsuccessful today. So I got to the point where I decided to get up and have a wander into town! It was so quiet.. Post-Christmas quietness I believe..
Plus it gave me an excuse to wear the jumper my boyfriend bought me for Christmas!

This has become my new favourite jumper. It’s from H&M, and it’s baggy and comfy and just lovely! He was a sneaky one too- I mentioned I liked it so he sorted it out as a pressie without me knowing!

Anyway, I’ve gone off on a tangent there! After town, I met said boyfriend for lunch. And we had an omelette each- one egg, two egg whites each- with about 100g chicken and half an avocado each. It was stunning! So stunning I forgot to take a picture.. Sorry bloggers!

This evening, after my ab workout, I made a chicken salad. It was scrummy! I had herby chicken, with diced carrots, red pepper, cucumber, and spring onions, on a bed of leaves. On top of which, I had a drizzle of honey!

I was pleased with it, I must admit! After dinner, I also had some 0% fat Greek yogurt with more honey.. (You can probably tell that I’m a fan of honey, it satisfies my extremely sweet sweet tooth!)

Oh and breakfast was porridge again (seemed silly taking a photograph of the same thing today..) with an apple and a clementine as snacks during the day.

All in all, a little bit of a lazy day. But I ate well so I’m happy! Here’s to hoping all of this clean food helps my system beat this cold before it takes hold…

Monday blues?

So, Monday’s are renowned for their misery- you’re back in work, you’re back in school, or you’re back to routine (especially after being out of any kind of routine with Christmas and New Year celebrations!)

For me, it’s a bit different. As a University student, my semester doesn’t actually restart until the end of January… Though I do have one mega-essay and exams to get out of the way first! Though in general, this is more of an “ugh I should probably do some work” Monday as opposed to an “oh shit I have to go back to work” one!

So to all of those who have had to go back to work today, remember Easter is just around the corner..!

Anywho.
This marks the beginning of my first clean eating day. I started cutting down yesterday, but today is when I get into my own routine.

For breakfast was one of my most favourite things- porridge. And I’m not even joking… I genuinely enjoy porridge! With the addition of 10g honey and a handful of almonds, it really is a great start to the day.

Yes, it looks like a blob of gunk. But there is an array of bits and bobs you can add to it to make it yummy. A teaspoon of peanut butter, honey (my personal fave), raisins, berries, cinnamon.. And so much more!

I go for approx. 30g of porridge with 150ml skimmed milk and 50ml hot water. But you can have all milk if you so wish! By mixing the ratio of oats to liquid you can also control the consistency of your meal.

So that’s breakfast. 🙂
